Umbria is known as the green heart of Italy.
With its rambling hills covered in dense forests it is possibly less sought after but just as mesmerising as its neighbour, Tuscany.
Never ending vistas across the valleys, olive groves and ancient churches seen from far away, are scenes that await you. All of the above is what we love to include in your wedding videos set in Umbria.
We are often amazed at the places our clients bring us to and on this occasion, also pleasantly surprised. After driving for some time following the GPS which took us up a steep hill and around many bends in the road until we arrived at charming Nikis Resort in Umbria.
This lovely wedding venue is named after a dear family member, Niki.
Deconsecrated Chapel as a ceremony option
It’s complete with a deconsecrated chapel decorated with frescoes if you prefer an indoor ceremony or in the event of bad weather. However, most weddings in summer are set up outdoors overlooking the valley beyond. The property is made up of restored farmhouse buildings which today is a stylish country-style hotel run by Matteo and his family with rooms overlooking the famous Umbrian countryside.
The sparkling pool on the property is blissful, heaven for anyone. Consider bringing your own blow up swans for floatation and for added pool pleasure as our client did!
Lets talk Umbrian culinary delights
Italy is all about food and Umbria is definitely one of the epicentres of good food. They believe in only using home-grown, home-made, home-cured, and so the words organic, locally sourced, freshly harvested come to mind.
Umbria is known for its prosciutto (cured meats) and excellent wines but honestly, anything from Umbria is delicious. I must put in a good word here for the catering at Nikis Resort.
Exceptional food
An open air buffet table was laid out as the sun was setting for the guests’ apperitivi. One long wedding table for the dinner, beautifully set, positioned the length of the farmhouse, styled in the way you would see in an Italian family – all together. Laughter, lanterns and love everywhere. The food at this wedding was with out doubt, exceptional.
If a memorable meal is high on your list of priorities, then this would be a good choice.
David and I spend substantial preparation time before a wedding exploring the location to get “the mood”, understand the light and to explore nearby locations for potential drone shots and the all-important couple shoot.

Tipico Osteria dei Sensi, in the town of Montone, Umbria
On a meander exploring the cobbled alleyways of nearby town Montone we came upon this extraordinary culinary heaven …
“By far one of the best food experiences we’ve ever had in Italy. A total stand out meal noted for its exceptional attention to detail in the food preparation and kind service. From the warm welcome, to the owner’s detailed explanations of every single dish prepared with only fresh local ingredients you’re set for an unforgettable meal. The owner’s pride and passion for the cuisine that he produces from locally sourced ingredients shines through. Mouthwatering meals await”. (My Tripadvisor review, June 2017)
